What the number means

This is the spot price of gold (XAU/USD) — the global benchmark. Your broker's price sits a few units either side because of the spread. Use it to size a trade or check margin.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the live XAU/USD price on this page come from?

The live price is a reference feed of the spot gold quote, shown so you can sanity-check levels and feed the calculators. It is not your broker's executable quote. Your fills happen at the prices your broker streams to MT4, MT5, cTrader or FxPro Edge, which can differ from any reference feed at any moment.

Why is the price here different from the quote in my trading platform?

The difference comes from the source: a reference feed aggregates spot quotes, while your broker streams its own bid and ask, including its markup and the liquidity it can access. Small gaps are normal, and they widen around news and at session opens. Treat the page price as context, not as the price you will get.

Is the reference price of about 4275.0 a live level or an example?

The 4275.0 figure is a reference example used to show how the maths works, not a forecast or a level to trade from. Use the live price for current context and your platform for execution. For sizing, enter the price you actually expect to trade at, so the pip value and margin figures match your order.

Why does the rand gold price on my screen not match XAU/USD times the dollar rand rate?

Small mismatches come from timing: the gold quote and the USD/ZAR quote update at slightly different moments, and each may come from a different source. Rounding and the broker's own conversion rate add to it. For planning, use one consistent USD/ZAR rate in the profit calculator rather than mixing sources.

Can I place a trade directly from the live price shown here?

No. Vaal Rules does not execute orders or hold client funds. The live price is there for reference and for feeding the position size, pip value, margin and profit calculators. To trade, you place the order with your own broker, and the fill you receive is whatever that broker's platform streams at the time.
